The king is the representative of God's royalty and leadership to men and that he is the express show of God's splendor and lordship. We also said,
The priest on the other hand is the representative of man before God depicting the frailty and imperfections of humanity.
Working with that knowledge, how can these two offices function as one and why?
The question should actually be why should these two offices not function as one? Man was primarily designed to function by and for God which means man can only show the splendor of God by the help of God.
Isaiah 43:21 "This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise."
The king can only show the splendor of God accurately when he can see and access the author of the splendor. That only becomes possible in the office of the priest because the king is first a man.
It therefore means that in practicality a king that does not function as a priest is functioning below capacity.
Let's bring this home, how does this relate to you as Christian?
Join us next month as we continue on THE KING THAT IS A PRIEST III.
