It is easier to operate as either a king or a priest, simple and specific function. However, it is more efficient and effective to operate as both the king and the priest which is our calling in Christ.
Revelation 5:10 "And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth."
Before the coming of Christ, these divine job functions were specific. David was a king and Abiathar was a priest.
Their job descriptions were clear. The coming of Jesus however, revealed our true calling.
In this series, we shall just be stating simple contextual definitions of the king and the priest for easy understanding of the whole series. So,
Who is a king? Who is a priest?
The king is the representative of God's royalty and leadership to men. He is the express show of God's splendor and lordship.
The priest on the other hand is the representative of man before God depicting the frailty and imperfections of humanity. He depicts the interphase between man and divinity.
How can these two offices function as one and why?
Join us next month as we continue on THE KING THAT IS A PRIEST II.
